About Our Grant Making:

The purpose of the New Castle Presbytery (NCP) Congregational Grants is to support member churches’ meaningful outreach work that helps to meet the needs of their congregants and the communities they serve.  This includes projects that relate to Food Insecurity, Mental and Physical Health, Housing, Advocacy, Peace, Poverty, and other related projects that align with the Presbytery’s stated values:

Valuing kinship and working to build strong relationships with one another and partners all around.

Continually reformed and transformed by the surprising, inspiring work of the Spirit while engaging in shared mission.

Gathering in for renewal and equipping, sending out to enjoy and be active in God's world.

The Grants Committee prefers projects that include the collaborative efforts of churches or community partner organizations.

It is our aim to support member churches in being active participants and partners in the work of meeting needs and making positive changes in their communities.  Grants will empower churches to start new initiatives, support collaborative efforts, and increase engagement.  We believe that this missional ministry grant opportunity can and will help member churches to find new ways to serve your communities, supporting you in turning dreams and big possibilities into actionable projects.

Funds are to be expressly used by the grant recipient church and its partner and may not be “re-granted” to other organizations or to individuals.

Strong preference will be given to:

• Member churches in good standing with New Castle Presbytery: Current on Per Capita payments with a record of participation in meetings and/or NCP-sponsored events over the past 12 months.
• Previous grant recipients that have completed all reporting requirements.
• Previous grants that have received only one year of Congregation Grant funding from NCP in the past three years.
• The Grants Committee prioritizes funding new initiatives over repeat project requests.  Applications for repeat projects may be considered at the end of the year based on available funding.  The Committee’s annual budget can be found at ncpresbytery.org.

Grant Range:

We want to encourage churches with impactful projects to apply for grant support.  The Grants Committee can approve requests from $1,000 to $20,000.  Requests for more than $20,000 will need to be taken to Presbytery for an approval.

Grant Timing:

The Grants committee approves grants in April and October.

Deadlines to submit grants are March 1 and September 1.

Grant requirements:

Our grant applications will be submitted via this Submittable portal.  Please be prepared to share the following with your grant application:

• Organization budget
• Program budget (income, including other sources of funding for the project and all expenses)
• Annual Financial Review from the previous year
• Timeline for project implementation and related expenditures

Incomplete Applications:

Incomplete applications will initially be asked for the missing items and given 5 days to submit them to the Congregational Grants committee.  Grants that remain incomplete after the 5-day grace period will be removed from consideration.

Reporting Requirements:

Grant recipients are required to submit two reports:  One at the mid-year point, and one at the close of the one-year grant period.
